At the End of Your Rope

What do SIN, quicksand, and Salvation all have in common?

We are all born into this world with a set amount of sand in our hourglass of life. What we do during that time will determine our future.

We are all born with a Sinful nature which is like the quicksand of life. We all start out standing in the quicksand, but as we grow older we continue to sink. When we come to the time in our lives of knowing the difference between right and wrong we are up to our
knees in quicksand. The more you fight by twisting and turning, the worse your situation becomes. Many of us reach for the ropes of fame and fortune only to find them fragile and not attached to anything strong enough to pull us out of our sinking hole. While looking for other ropes to give us hope, we close our eyes to the reality of our situation. Sometimes we turn to drugs and alcohol. Meanwhile more sand in our hourglass drops, and our time grows shorter. Being so focused on the mirage of false hopes, we fail to recognize the person on the other side of the quicksand throwing us a rope. He’s standing there with a rope in His hand, wrapped around His waist, extending it out to us, and in His other arm are many blueprint drawings of all His designs. Within His many designs are each and everyone one of us, every animal that roams the earth, and every planet across the cosmos. But, we are usually too preoccupied with our momentary situation to hear Him calling to us, or notice that
rope2He has thrown us a rope, trying to save us from ourselves. Through our SIN of pride, greed, and selfishness, we hold onto those ropes in life, which have no end, and find ourselves just sinking deeper and faster. However, once we realize that the only rope of hope that is firmly attached is being handed to us by the Master Designer of all things, we have to choose to let go of the other ropes of false hope, then hold still and do nothing. He will pull us out of our mess with His rope of salvation.  The good news is we will see that we are no longer sinking in quicksand. However, some is still stuck to us and will take some time to be completely cleansed of it. In the meantime it is a constant reminder of where we were.

Jesus the Christ and Savior is offering us all His rope of salvation. Grab hold of it before your hourglass runs out.
